Feelin’ Lucky

I woke up this morning to the best news I’ve received to date in my journey to publication!

I am a Grand Prize Winner of #Storystorm!

And I needed a win… But what does this all mean, Basil?

Well, it means I’ve been paired with a literary agent who will take the time to look over five of my “pitches” or ideas to see which are most viable in the current market.

And, of course, there’s a part of me that hopes even more wonderful things can come of it…and if you know me, you know I’m more often than not overflowing with hope!

Since our last correspondence, I also won two other little contests of chance! Within about a week’s time, I won NOT one BUT two critiques from fellow writers via Twitter. Thank you to Brittany Pomales and Jenny Pease for such wonderful opportunities!

And last week, I received my first ever “REVISE AND RESUBMIT” which feels like an important step forward after all of these months of effort.

So you can see why I’m feelin’ lucky…

On top of all of that, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my Perfecting the Picture Book course from The Writing Barn, as taught by Jyoti Gopal. She has quickly become one of my favorite people in the #kidlit universe! I’m thrilled to have three more weeks of Jyoti’s teaching and I HIGHLY recommend any and all of the goodness coming out of The Writing Barn. For REAL!

Meanwhile, I’m very active in Courage to Create (via The Writing Barn), 12X12PB, and my local and phenomenal SCBWI! It’s all very fulfilling as I move onward in my pilgrimage to publication!
