Hope on the Horizon

Fall is beginning to flex its muscles here in Edmond. Last night, we even mistook a big, crispy leaf in the green belt for a turtle. Binocular fail!

Now, I have my fall decor sprinkled about, my Copper and Clover Candle burning, and I’m bubbling over with anticipation for my #FallWritingFrenzy story, which goes up on October 1.

It’s noteworthy just how much my writing’s changed since one year ago. The mood piece found here from last year’s #FallWritingFrenzy is lyrical and lovely and telling of my natural style. But so much has happened since then! Learning and reading and relationship building…I’m so grateful for each opportunity of growth and change I’ve been afforded.

Through my regular attendance at SCBWI meetings and my investment in myself through The Writing Barn and Courage to Create, I think I’ve transformed from a writer into a true Picture Book writer. And looking back, it’s not been an easy journey…

Yet, I’ve been changed and it’s completely for the better. Most notable between this year’s #FallWritingFrenzy story and last… The joy it’s brought me and my family. Priceless!

I’m sensing a lot of hope on the horizon. I don’t know if it’s the opportunities ahead of me…

SCBWI Fall Retreat this weekend, Picture Book Summit on October 8, Funny Women of KidLit Confab in mid November…

Or perhaps it’s in the tone of the changing season… But I’m believing for goodness and progress in these next few months.
