For the past week, the song It is Well by Bethel Music has been on my heart and mind. The lyrics help me feel grounded, preparing me for the weeks ahead as I wait, believing for the next breakthrough in my writing career.
Far be it for me to not believe
Even when my eyes can’t see
And this mountain that’s in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
It is well, it is well
So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name
So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name
This week was the #PBParty submission day. I consciously stayed focused on my submission and didn’t get wrapped up in the frenzy ahead of time. I’ve not got all my eggs in the #PBParty basket, but I’m believing and praying for breakthrough, and getting into the agent/editor showcase would sure be one huge version of that! Last year, I remember getting sucked into all the excitement ahead of submission day and then “suffering” through the waiting period ahead of the winners’ announcement. I choose to not do that this time. So much less stress!
Each day as I wait, I’m passing my time in a more constructive manner. For example, I’ve spent the last week reading/commenting/suggesting edits on my dear SCBWI friend’s Middle Grade novel. It’s been a true delight diving into her project…and the story is extremely compelling! There’s no doubt in my mind that when it’s finished, it will be an easy sale! I’m so proud!
Another thing, I’m preparing my work for two literary agent critique opportunities I purchased through our upcoming SCBWI Spring conference. I have til March 29 to get two of my stories ready for their eyes…and I haven’t decided which ones I’ll submit…but one of those opportunities is a critique with a face-to-face meeting. I’ve never done that in person before, so YIKES it’s exciting and I’m sure I’ll stress about it some as it gets closer!
The other big news: I rejoined 12x12PB, The Courage to Create, AND was accepted into The Writing Barn’s Write. Submit. Support. Picture Book program! Hooray! It’s sort of like a mentorship, and the organization actually compares it to an MFA. It’s six months long and begins in two weeks! I’m looking forward to all it has to offer!
Thank you for coming along on this journey with me! I appreciate your support and hope that wherever you are on your path, you too can feel His presence and declare It is Well with Me.
